Wasn't sure whether to put this under photomanipulation, but I decided not to because there's more brushing than photomanip.
The rift-like nebula in the background started out as a cloud photo taken by *DameDesReves here: [link]
Awesome photo, gave me the inspiration I needed.

The work comes across as quite rough, almost crude; at the same time however, a number of elements are pretty compelling. The large sun, and bright gas column in the background are pretty eye catching.

Something I have noticed with alot of your work is the lack of atmosphere you put on your planets. Whilst you could follow the route of it being a choice of realism I think it still hurts the work. The moon/ ringed planet in particular; coupled with the rather harsh planet rings, it ends up looking, as I say, quite crude.

Perhaps the best course of action would be to start afresh. bear in mind the concepts of the gas column and the sun, maybe even directly re use them, but jsut push the concept further and to its fullest. Really try to tackled the problem through a manner that perhaps isn't your own. Has helped me to learn new techniques at least.
